This week, Meg Wolitzer and Holly Goldberg Sloan will be visiting to share their new novel! On Wednesday, we will have a special schedule for their visit.
Monday is an A120 day as we experience the 8th graders' capstone projects.
Please remember that the next vocabulary and roots test is on Thursday, 2/14. If you know you will be absent, please plan on taking them early.
IN CLASS
Monday, 2/11: A120 day We will complete the verb unit by studying what verbals are. I will distribute the Verb Unit Study Guide (test on 2/28).
Day 2: Part of class will be spent with independent work on verbs, the other part will consist of a final discussion on Peak. I will answer any of your questions we did not get to on Friday.
Day 3: Membean/Vocab Test, Roots Test. When you are finished, work on finding facts to support your thesis statement for your essay.
No class on 2/15 and 2/18. Enjoy your break!
2/19, 2/20, 2/21 will all be spent on completing your essay. I will review citations, transitions, and building a works cited page, which both Ms. Jordan and I covered previously this year. The essay is due 2/22.
HOMEWORK:
Continue practicing with Membean. There will be 45 minutes due 2/24.
Review the Verb Study Guide, use the packet to help you identify and practice confusing concepts.
Work on your essay as homework if you need more time, but WITHOUT parental assistance.
I will not distribute the next novel until 2/28.
